ABOUT
TODDLER
Welcome to Toddler
For children ages 18 months to 3 years —
The Nido program is designed around the belief that infants are born with tremendous potential, eager to learn, explore, and try new things. The classroom, in light of the infant’s need for routine and consistency, will allow for freedom of movement while gently stimulating the naturally curious infant. A flexible schedule will allow each child to eat, sleep, or play according to their own unique internal rhythm. The activities will support and encourage language development, practical life skills, eye-hand coordination, along with gross and fine motor abilities in a warm and loving environment.
Our guides are highly trained and experienced in Montessori infant care. With a ratio of 1 to 3, each child is lovingly cared for and supported to learn independent skills.
Toddler Environment & Community
Our Nido community has 3 trained Guides that gently support the growth and development of 8 students between the ages of 6 weeks to 18 months. Our beautiful classroom offers light-filled, open spaces for each child to work and play, with materials and furniture designed just for them.
Toddler Outdoor Space
Our playground is designed by Green Space Learning, which specializes in early childhood and Montessori learning. With open space, a hill, and a slide, children in Nido are provided opportunities for large muscle movement and the benefits of outdoor play in a space created just for them.
About Our Lead Toddler Guides
Lexus Wells —
Lead Guide, Toddler 1
Hello! My name is Lexus and I am an AMI 0-3 Assistant to Infancy certified educator through the Montessori Institute of North Texas. My Montessori journey began when I was just 13 years old—and I’ve never looked back! Over the years, I’ve had the joy of serving in many roles, including classroom assistant, guide, and Director of Administration.
I’m also a proud mom to three beautiful children who inspire me daily and remind me why I’m so passionate about the work I do. I believe deeply in the Montessori philosophy and feel honored to be part of a community that nurtures each child’s growth, independence, and natural curiosity. I’m incredibly proud to be part of the beautiful community here at Cathedral Montessori, and I look forward to supporting you and your child on this meaningful journey.
